Guwahati, May 2 (IBNS): In giving a sigh of relief to the devotees and tourists from Assam visiting Odisha, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal directed state Chief Secretary Alok Kumar to take steps for evacuating tourists in view of the impending cyclonic storm ‘Fani’.

Sonowal asked the Chief Secretary to talk to NF Railway authority for special train services to bring the tourists back to Assam from the coastal state.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister’s Media Advisor Hrishikesh Goswami also held a telephonic conversation with many tourists from Assam who have gone to Odisha and enquired about their wellbeing.

He also informed them about special trains that were pressed into services for immediately bringing them back to Assam.

In view of the impending crisis posed by Fani, higher official from Government of Assam on Thursday held talks with the NF Railway Authority, as a result of which a couple of trains were pressed into service.

The first train left Puri on Thursday at 12 noon and the second train left at 3 pm while the third train started its journey at 6 pm.
