A defective helicopter, which was airlifted from Uttarakhand's Kedarnath by a MI-17 chopper, crashed from mid-air on Saturday morning, media reports said.

No one was injured. There was no passenger or luggage in the helicopter.

The helicopter, which was operated by a private company, fell after the towing rope snapped this morning.

It crashed near the Mandakini River in Lincholi.

A rescue team was at the spot.

In May, the chopper had made an emergency landing near the helipad in Kedarnath due to technical faults.
