New Delhi, Mar 21(IBNS) Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Saturday confirmed that the two terrorists who attacked an army camp at Samba in Jammu and Kashmir, have been killed.

"As of now, two militants have been neutralised in Samba. Search operation is still on to ensure there are no more militants hiding in the area," he said.

A civilian was injured in the incident in which the terrorists had opened fire and lobbed grenades at the camp of the 81 Armoured Regiment of the Army on Jammu-Pathankot highway in the early hours of Saturday.

The incident was the second such attack in two consecutive days after  six people, including three CRPF personnel and a civilian were killed in an encounter between terrorists and police in Kathua district on Firday.

In Samba, reinforcements were brought in by the army while 'Infantry Combat Vehicles' moved from Jammu towards the encounter site.

The Jammu-Pathakot highway, on which the Army installation is situated, was closed for traffic for precautionary measures.

Parrikar said, "this year we have neutralised 24 to 26 terrorists until now, with only one casualty on our side. Exchange of fire is also low on the Line of Control."

Home Minister Rajnath Singh said  all necessary actions are being followed with regard to the militant attack on the Army camp in Samba. "We are in touch with the concerned authorities in the state. We have got a call from the Deputy Chief Minister and we have also received information from the intelligence. The necessary actions that are required are being taken,"he said.

Schools and colleges have been ordered shut in the Samba sector.
