Delhi Assembly :BJP legislator expelled from House, AAP presents case for EVM tampering

New Delhi, May 9 (IBNS) : The Delhi Assembly’s special session began on a stormy note with the expulsion of Leader of the Opposition Party (LoP) Vijender Gupta, who raised the issue of corruption against the Aam Aadmi Party Government as the ruling party, out to make a "big revelation", presented a demo of EVM machines, claiming they are capable of being tampered with to rig polls in favour of a party.

Soon after assembly proceedings began, the BJP's Vijender Gupta was marshalled out of the house for creating a ruckus.

Gupta, speaking on the alleged corruption in land deal, insisted that the matter be discussed. He was joined by  his party colleagues and as the proceedings of the house were virtually stalled, the Speaker  called in marshals to evict  Gupta.

Giving a live demo in the Assembly, Aam Aadmi Party legislator Saurabh Bhardwaj  claimed that Electronic Voting Machines or EVMs can be rigged.

The former Minister explained how different parts of an EVM work and then conducted a mock poll on a voting machine he had carried to the assembly. The was conducted on a simulated machine.

"There are secret codes that can be used to decide on the day of voting which candidate can win," Bhardwaj alleged.

Earlier, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had tweeted that his party will expose  a "big conspiracy on an issue now raging in the country."

Ever since the party's crushing electoral defeats in successive elections, the Aam Aadmi Party has taken the EVM issue in public, claiming there were the possibilities of the voting machines being used to rig the polls in favour of the BJP.
