New Delhi/UNI: Delhi Police special cell has apprehended a member of the banned outfit Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), who is said to be one of the illusive members of the organisation for the past 19 years, the police said on Sunday.

The member namely Abdullah Danish who was absconding for the past 19 years in a sedition case was nabbed from Zakir Nagar area on Saturday based on an input received regarding his movements around Delhi.

He had escaped the raid by police back in the year 2001 when a ban was imposed on SIMI, while many other members were arrested and incriminating material along with alleged provocative literature was also recovered from the headquarters of the outfit in Jamia Nagar.

He was also declared as a proclaimed offender in the said case of sedition by a trial court in the year 2002.

He has said to have allegedly indoctrinated many gullible Muslim youths in the past 25 years, the police said.

He remained the Editor in Chief of the Hindi dubbed version of the SIMI Magzine ' Islamic Movement' for a period of four years.
