Dr Harsh Vardhan visits Botanical Survey of India
Kolkata, May 9 (IBNS): Union Minister of Science & Technology, Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Earth Sciences Dr Harsh Vardhan on Wednesday visited Botanical Survey of India (BSI) at Howrah.
A power point presentation introducing the BSI and highlighting the different works, researches and discovery of new plants done by BSI were also held to mark the visit.
Congratulating the scientists’ community for their valuable researches and discovery of new plants, Dr. Harsh Vardhan suggested them to have good quality coordination with the scientists of different institutions across the country in order to avoid repeated research on the same topic.
He further urged them to adopt innovative scientific approach to find solutions of unresolved issues in society.
The Minister applauded BSI’s effort for making straw from internode of bambus and appealed them to launch it is as a mass movement to protect the environment.
Reminding the scientists present there about their Green Social Responsibilities the minister urged to practice ‘Green Good Behaviour’ for making the environment safer for the children of future generation.
Dr. Pramjit Singh, Director, Botanical Survey of India and Dr. Kailash Chandra, Director, Zoological Survey of India were also present among others on the occasion.
