Dreaded naxal of Jharkhand with Rs 1 lakh bounty nabbed by Gujarat ATS
Ahmedabad, Feb 27 (UNI) The Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Gujarat police has nabbed a dreaded naxalite who was on the run for last six years from a factory in rural Ahmedabad, absconding since a landmine blast in Dhanbad district of Jharkhand in 2014 carrying a bounty of Rs 1 lakh on his head.
SP ATS Himanshu Shukla on Wednesday said that Sitaram Birbal Manjhi (45), resident of Dhowtan village under Topchanchi taluka of Dhanbad district has been arrested from a private steel factory in Ranodara math locality under Dascroi taluka of Ahmedabad where he was working as a labourer for the past 1 year. He had earlier worked in a similar factory in Odhav area of the city for 4 years.
He had joined the naxal outfit Krantikari Kisan committee in 2004 and was involved in several criminal cases including the sensational loot of 2 SLR and cartridges from Angar Patra railway post in Dhanbad in 2009.
He was arrested in that case and after release on bail, with his other aides he triggered a landmine blast in Vanasthali gaam road in Dhanbad close to 2014 LS polls targeting a police vehicle.
He will be handed over to the Dhanbad police for further action.
