Guwahati, Feb 28 (IBNS): A video, where a city police traffic constable was dragged one kilometer by a driver of a passenger vehicle in Assam’s capital city Guwahati, went viral on social media.

The video was shot by someone inside the vehicle.

According to the reports, the incident took place at Jalukbari area in the city on Wednesday.

The city police traffic constable named Parag Changkakati said the driver of the vehicle had tried to kill him when he asked him after the vehicle parked at the no parking zone.

“I was on duty nearby Haj Bhawan near Jalukbari. When I noticed that a Staff Traveller parked at the area, I asked the driver to leave the area. But he started the vehicle and drives in my direction. Immediately, I jumped and immediately caught the bonnet of the vehicle. The driver dragged me one kilometre towards Boragaon area. When the speed of the vehicle came down, I jumped from it,” the traffic police constable said.

Following the incident, police had registered a case (no 299/2019) at Jalukbari police station under section 278/353/307 of IPC and arrested the driver identified as Manoj Kalita.
