Easter terror strike: No request yet from Sri Lanka for assistance, says MEA

New Delhi, May 2 (UNI): India has 'not received' any request from the Sri Lankan government for any kind of assistance to probe into the dastardly terror act on the Easter Day that had resulted in death of at least 250 people in the island nation.

"On support to Sri Lankan authorities, we have not received any specific request from the Sri Lankan government. As and when we receive any request, India is ready to assist the Sri Lankan government and provide all possible help as per their request and requirement," MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar told reporters here.

There are also media reports about some terrorist linkages and related matters, he said adding "These are matters which are dealt by specific departments of Government of India" and thus it should be best left to them.

The remarks are significant as a suspect arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) from Kerala Riyas A alias Riyas Abbobacker has reportedly 'admitted' to be following Sri Lankan bomber Zahran Hashim.

The accused is a native of Palakkad district in Kerala.
