Eastern Railway flags off Railway heritage run

Kolkata, Apr 12 (IBNS) R. K. Gupta, General Manager, Eastern Railway on Sunday morning flagged off a Railway Heritage Run (Mini Marathon) at Princep Ghat in Kolkata.

The Railway Heritage Run  started from Princep Ghat and finished at Fairlie Place, Eastern Railway Headquarters covering a distance of 3½ km.

On this day, Eastern Railway has occupied a pride of place amongst all zones of Indian Railways by carrying 33 lakhs of passengers every day with 1926 trains thus, rendering more and more passenger amenities within its jurisdiction.

A week-long cultural programmes are being organized from 10th to 16thApril, 2015 at Howrah Rail Museum, which has been opened for public viewing at free of cost. A food stall is also being opened by the Railways to cater to the needs of visitors to the museum.

The Rail Museum opened for public visit from 10.00 a.m. to 7.30 p.m.

V. K. Dhaka Chief Security Commissioner, Eastern Railway and Saini, Addl. CSC, Eastern Railway organized the entire Railway Heritage Run while Pankaj Singh, Deputy General Manager give away the vote of thanks.
