Eleven killed in Assam in two road mishaps

Guwahati, Jan 31(IBNS) : At least eleven people,including a newly married couple, were killed in two separate road mishaps in Assam's Sonitpur district in the wee hours of Saturday, police said.

According to reports, six people of a marriage family were killed in  a road accident at Madhab area near Jamugurihat in Sonitpur district when their vehicle collided head on with an oil tanker.

Five people were killed on the spot and another person succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

In a separate incident five labourers were killed when a brick laden truck in which they were travelling skidded off the road and fell into a gorge in the Gahpur area of the district.
