Ex-Sikkim CM Sanchaman Limboo dies at 73

Gangtok/UNI: Sanchaman Limboo, former Chief Minister of Sikkim, passed away on Sunday after prolonged illness at a state-run hospital here. He was 73.

His body has been taken to Hee Gaon West Sikkim for cremation on Tuesday.

Govt of Sikkim has declared 7 days state mourning including a State Holiday on Tuesday.

The National Flag will fly at half-mast from today till November 15.

Governor Ganga Prasad has sent a condolence message and said, "It was shocking to hear the news of passing away of 4th CM of Sikkim Sanchaman Limboo. He was a leader of people who worked for development of public at the grass roots. His demise is a huge loss. He will be remembered for his contributions."

Chief Minister PS Tamang said: "I am extremely sad to learn about the untimely demise of Sanchman Limboo, the fourth CM of Sikkim. He was very humble, down to earth and a soft spoken person. I drew inspiration from him. With his demise Sikkim has lost not only a perfect gentleman but also a leader of the masses."
