Fire breaks out in Kolkata school, creates scare

Kolkata, Oct 26 (IBNS): A minor fire broke out at Don Bosco School in Kolkata's Park Circus area on Wednesday afternoon, triggering panic among students and their guardians, reports said.

According to reports, the fire was first seen at around 12:40 pm. on the terrace of school building and fire brigade was called in.

As many as four fire tender engines, Disaster Management Group (DMG) and police force from local police station rushed to the spot and the fire was brought under control very soon.

As the school authority handled the situation carefully and evacuated the building very fast, no casualty was reported in the incident.

Publishing a statement, Don Bosco School authority said, "This afternoon when the students were having their lunch break in the open field, play ground, there was a small fire on the top of the terrace, where some papers and mats were stored."

"There is some construction work going on the same wing so may the workers must have dropped some bidi buds," the statement further said.

School officials also claimed that the fire was brought under control in few minutes by school's staffers.

Police and fire brigade, however, have started investigation into the matter to know the exact reason behind the fire.
