Fire breaks out in Kolkata's Burrabazar market

Kolkata, Feb 10 (IBNS): A fire broke out in Kolkata's trading hub Burrabazar on Sunday night triggering panic among businessmen and locals.

According to reports, the fire was first noticed inside a garments' godown located in the ground floor of a multi-storey commercial building at Jamunalal Bazar Street area and it spread quickly to other parts of the building.

After being informed, five fire tenders and local police rushed to the scene and firemen are currently fighting to douse the blaze.

State fire minister Sujit Basu has visited the area.

An officer of West Bengal fire and emergency services said that the source of the fire had been identified and almost arrested.

"We have almost arrested the source of the fire and we are expecting that the blaze will be brought under control very soon," the official told IBNS.

However, exact reason behind the fire is yet to be established.
