Former High Commissioner to Canada Vishnu Prakash says India and Canada are natural partners
Former High Commissioner to Canada Vishnu Prakash has said India and Canada are natural partners.
In an interview to ANI, the former envoy said though there are "niggles in India-Canada relationship but the relationship is much bigger than the niggles".
"India and Canada do not share an one-issue relationship but a very broad-based relationship. We are natural partners given the fact that we are not just democracies but we are multicultural societies. We have similarities of outlook and our economies are complementary. They are very strong in natural resources including uranium and their innovation. They are also very good at green and clean technologies. Meanwhile, India has strength in sectors such as services, pharmaceuticals and auto components," he said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday assured his Canadian counterpart Justin Trudeau that India would do its best to facilitate supplies of Covid vaccines sought by Canada.
Modi also informed that the two leaders agreed on collaborating on issues like climate change and revival of the global economy.
In a tweet, PM Modi wrote: "Was happy to receive a call from my friend @JustinTrudeau. Assured him that India would do its best to facilitate supplies of COVID vaccines sought by Canada. We also agreed to continue collaborating on other important issues like Climate Change and the global economic recovery."
