Former Indian Ambassador to US Naresh Chandra dies at 82

Panaji, Jul 10 (IBNS) : Former Indian Ambassador to US Naresh Chandra died at Manipal hospital at Dona Paula near Panaji on Sunday night due to multiple organ failure, The Hindu reported. He was 82.

The report quoted Dr. Shekhar Salkar, head of Clinical Services at Manimapl Hospital as saying that Chandra  was admitted to the hospital on Friday evening with complaints of fever and vomiting and loose motions. "He was with very high diabetic and then suffered a cardiac arrest."

Dr. Couto told The Hindu that while the former top diplomat  was holidaying in Goa he was unwell.

Chandra, a bachelor, had served as the Cabinet Secretary from 1990-92 and was the Indian Ambassador to the US from 1996 to 2001.
