Guwahati, Aug 25 (IBNS) : Four suspected Bangladeshi militants were apprehended in Assam's Karimganj district on Wednesday when they were trying to travel to Saudi Arabia and join ISIS, officials said on Thursday.

A top official of Assam police said that  the suspected Bangladeshi militants had entered India crossing over Indo-Bangladesh border from Umkiyang area of Meghalaya side and hide at a rented house at Kaliganj area in Karimganj district.

"The militants have been trying to travel to Saudi Arabia and  join ISIS. They  managed to get forged passport with the help of a local person. But we caught them," the police official said.

The nabbed militants were allegedly involved in the terror attack in a  Dhaka Cafe.

"We have already got in touch with the  Bangladesh authorities and have  shared information," the police official said.

An Assam police team, led by a DIG had rushed to Karimganj and started interrogation to collect more information.

After the  Dhaka terror attack, the Bangladesh authorities informed  that at least five militants have entered  India from Meghalaya side and the Union Home ministry  sounded a high alert along the Indo-Bangladesh border.
