New Delhi/UNI: Visiting French Defence Minister Florence Parley has said that her country supports India's bid for securing a permanent seat at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

While attending the induction ceremony of the Rafale fighter aircraft into the Indian Air Force (IAF) in the Ambala air base on Thursday, Parley was quoted as saying “France supports India's candidacy for (permanent seat) in the UNSC."

During the event, Parley also reiterated France’s involvement and support for Prime Minister Modi's ambitious ‘Make in India’ movement.

“The Make in India has been a reality for the French industry for several years particularly for defense equipment such as submarines. Many French companies and design offices are now established in India and I hope that others will offer their support and services,” she quipped.

The minister was full of praise for the Rafale aircraft, pointing out that the military aircraft was effectively used in Mali to destroy armed terror groups.

Parley also highlighted France’s determination to respect the delivery deadline despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Parley reassured that France will supply the remaining 31 jets ordered by India as soon as possible.
