Garden Reach Shipbuilders adjudged the best Defence Shipyard for 4th consecutive year
The Trophy for the Best Performing Defence Shipyard was handed over by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar to Rear Admiral AK Verma, VSM, IN (Retd), Chairman & Managing Director, Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd., Kolkata, at a glittering ceremony held on Tuesday at DRDO Bhawan, New Delhi.
Two trophies were awarded to GRSE, Kolkata, one each for the year 2012-13 and 2013-14. GRSE had previously won the Best Performing Defence Shipyard Trophy for the years 2010-11 and 2011-12 as well.
"It may be noted that there are four defence shipyards under the administrative control of Ministry of Defence. These are Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd., (Mumbai), Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd., (Kolkata), Goa Shipyard Ltd., (Goa) and Hindustan Shipyard Ltd., (Visakhapatnam). The Best Performing Defence Shipyard Trophy is awarded to one of above four shipyards, based on the performance achieved during the financial year," read a government statement.
