GNLA militant nabbed in Assam
Guwahati, Jan 28 (IBNS): A hardcore militant belonging to Meghalaya outfit group Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) was apprehended by security forces from Assam-Meghalaya border on Wednesday, officials said.
The troops of Assam, Meghalaya police and army Red Horn Division had jointly launched operation at Shantipur area under Boko police station in Kamrup district along Assam-Meghalaya border and nabbed the militant.
The nabbed militant was identified as Ramu Ch Marak.
Troops also recovered one 9mm pistol with magazine, three rounds ammunition, one radio set, demand pads, AJRF stamps of the outfit group from him.
"During the preliminary interrogation the GNLA militant had revealed that, he was extensively involved in extortion, kidnapping, supplying weapons and other acts of terrorism in the adjoining districts of Assam and Meghalaya border, " a top official of Army said.
Ramu Ch Marak is one of the most wanted cadres of GNLA.
