Goa: 4 held for kidnapping, remanded to police custody
Panaji, Apr 7 (UNI) Police arrested four persons for allegedly abducting a person in Old Goa in North Goa on Sunday.
According to Old Goa Police Station Incharge Police Inspector Jivba Dalvi, information was received that four persons were abducting a person from Gaulebhat, Chimbel. Immediately, police rushed and found the complainant on the road side who was thrown by the accused persons upon noticing the police.
The victim, Vishwamber Shirvaikar, was rescued and his complaint was recorded wherein he stated that he was having a bar and restaurant at Gaulebhat, Chimbel. On April 6, 2019, at 2030 hrs he had stopped the accused persons from picking up a fight outside his restaurant.
The four accused persons along with few persons returned back along with bikes and cars at 2115 hrs and damaged the restaurant and attacked, assaulted the complainant, his father and one Ganesh with alcohol bottle and choppers. They abducted the complainant and made him sit on their scooter and began proceeding to unknown place in order to kill him. However, police got information and timely intervention saved the life of the complainant.
Upon registering, a team was formed and combing operation lunched and within two hours all the accused persons were arrested. Police gave the name of accused persons as Anar Vagmude, Chetan Vagmude, Vinayak Vagmude and Gaurish Fatarpekar, all residents of Merces - Goa.
All the accused were produced before Judicial Magistrate First Class Panaji which remanded them to seven days police custody.
The team which led to the arrest of the accused persons consisted of Pi Jivba Dalvi, LPSI Veronica Coutinho, PSI Edwin Dias, constables Samir Phadte, Mayur Asolkar, Aniket Devidas, Laxman Matondkar, Abhay Fadte, Kishan Naik, Shivram Achrekar, and Rajath Shetye.
An offence under section 143, 147, 148, 448, 427, 324, 506(ii), 364 R/w 34 IPC was registered.
Further investigation was in progress under the supervision of PI Jivba Dalvi, SDPO Uttam Raut Dessai and SP North Chandan Chaudary, IPS.
