Govt bans Naga rebel group NSCN (K) for five years
The decision to ban NSCN (K) was taken at the Union Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Union home ministry had submitted a detailed note and presentation on the outfit’s seeking a ban on it. It blamed the outfit for unilaterally abrogating the ceasefire with the Centre.
The outfit, led by S S Khaplang will now figure among 38 banned organisations, including the Indian Mujahideen and ISIS.
Few days ago the National Investigation agency announced a cash reward of Rs 7 lakh for information leading to arrest of S.S. Khaplang, and a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh on Niki Sumi, self-styled chief of the armed wing of NSCN(K).
