A total of 833 candidates are in the fray in 93 seats in the second phase of polls in Gujarat.

The election results will be announced on December 8 along with Himachal Pradesh's.

Indian PM Narendra Modi urged people to vote in large numbers.

"Urging all those who are voting in Phase 2 of the Gujarat elections, particularly the young voters and women voters to vote in large numbers. I will be casting my vote in Ahmedabad at around 9 AM," he tweeted.

Modi arrived in Ahmedabad on Sunday evening to exercise his franchise for the second phase of polls. He met his mother and took her blessings in the evening.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to cast his vote at a polling station in Ranip locality in Ahmedabad city.

Union Home Minister and BJP MP from Gandhinagar Amit Shah is also scheduled to cast his vote at a municipal sub-zonal office in Naranpura.
