Guv Dhankhar fires fresh salvo at Mamata after TMC MP Mohua Moitra calls out NRI docs' concern over Covid-19

Kolkata/IBNS: In another round of clash between the West Bengal government and Raj Bhavan over Covid-19, Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on Saturday slammed the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC)'s response to the Bengali diaspora's concern over the handling of the contagion in the state.

Inflicting more wounds to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee whose regime has been accused of manipulating Covid figures and fewer testing, the NRI doctors and healthcare workers wrote a letter to the CM expressing concerns over the number of tests being done in the state.

The healthcare workers and scientists have also questioned the state government's act of segregating the Covid deaths from the ones occurring in co-morbid conditions.

Slamming the letter, TMC Lok Sabha MP Mahua Moitra tweeted this morning, "Q: Ques for NRI docs Yr adopted home UK & US have worst stats & worst handling of COVID despite devlpd econ Poor govt comm, no PPE & supplies, health staff at risk Why not write such letters to UK Health Secy/Trump/ state governors? A: Much easier to become heroes here, right?"

Just hours after a letter-war with Banerjee over the Covid situation, Dhakhar was quick to hit back at Moitra calling her response "bizarre" and "irrational".

"Bizarre stand @MahuaMoitra ‘NRI docs writing to WB CM live practise pay taxes elsewhere you get down to work in yr adopted countries!’ Shocked ! Irrational! NRI docs had in eye opener representation flagged worrisome issues @MamataOfficial to combat COVID -19 and help WB," Dhankhar tweeted.

All this happened just hours after Dhankhar had lashed out at the Chief Minister for her alleged "minority appeasement" and inability to contain the pandemic virus.

In reply to Banerjee's Apr 23 letter where Dhankhar was reminded of the constitutional obligations and limits, the Governor in a no-hold attack pulled up the Chief Minister accusing her of taking inadequate steps to manage the Covid crisis and help the poor with food and essentials.
