Guwahati jewellery shop loot: Local court sends accused to 5-day police custody

Guwahati, May 11 (IBNS): A local court in Guwahati on Thursday sent three persons to five-day police remand, who were arrested in connection with the jewellery shop loot incident in the Assam’s capital city on Tuesday evening.

The crime branch of Guwahati city police had arrested Prem Singh (security guard), Nilkamal Singh and Basanta Singh for alleged involvement in the robbery incident at the MP Jewellers.

The local court sent them to five-day police custody after they appeared before the court.

Meanwhile, Assam police will have to track the robbers who looted several kilograms gold ornaments from the jewellery shop.

Assam DGP Mukesh Sahay said that, police will arrest the gang of four soon.

“Investigation is going on from all angles. We have collected all CCTV footages and hope the gang of four to be arrested soon,” the Assam DGP said.

Four armed men walked into the jewellery shop and looted valuable jewellery items worth of several crore rupees on May 9 evening.
