Hard work of farmers, labourers not bearing fruit under PM Modi's rule: Rahul Gandhi
Nanded/UNI: Congress senior leader and party MP Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said that this country belongs to ascetics, along with great men, farmers and labourers are also doing austerities but under PM Narendra Modi's regime they are not getting the fruits of their hard work.
Gandhi was addressing a first public rally in the state here on Nava Mondha Maidan on the occasion of his ongoing Bharat Jodo Yatra.
He said that, for the first time in independent India, the tax was imposed on agricultural implements and fertilizers.
Attacking the Prime Minister, he said "Modiji is taking money from the pockets of farmers and workers and giving it to two or four industrialists but the farmers are not getting loan waivers."
Addressing the gathering, Gandhi took a swipe at the Narendra Modi government and said that industries in Maharashtra are going out of state .
Speaking on the occasion, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said that seeds of hatred are being sown in the country today.
"Conflicts are being created in society, caste and religion. Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Nehru Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Patel, and Maulana Azad preserved the true identity of the country as unity in diversity. The youth of the country is wandering for jobs but the Modi government is not giving them jobs."
"30 lakh government jobs are vacant in the country but only 75000 people were given appointment letters, where did 2 crore jobs go every year,"
he asked.
"Today, while the work of dividing the country is going on, Rahul Gandhi has set out to unite the country. Not a day goes by for BJP without insulting Congress. In the morning, their day begins with abusing Congress. Do you want abusers or do you want people who serve the country?" asked Kharge.
On this occasion, Maharashtra Congress leader Nana Patole said that this padayatra is not only for the Congress party but for everyone who wants to unite the country.
