Headley says ISI, Lashkar synergise towards India's demolition

Mumbai, Feb 9 (IBNS) Disposing before a Mumbai court for the second day on Tuesday from a prison in USA , 26/11 Mumbai attack convict David Coleman Headley has confirmed his association with the ISI and how the Pakistan spy agency financially and militarily support the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and work in close nexus, public prosecutor Ujjal Nikam said quoting Headley.
Nikam said that Headley has confirmed that he worked closely with the ISI and had knowledge about the Mumbai attack which claimed 166 lives and injured many.

Headley was also in touch with several Brigadiers in Pakistan and was carrying off plans of securing Indian Army personnel for spying against India.

According to his disclosure, the LeT was given moral, financial and military support from the Inter-Services Intelligence.

David Headley said that the attack was a third such attempt as the previous two attempts were foiled.

The US national also said that he was a frequent visitor in India, having visited the country on eight occasions.
    
According to him, one such foiled attack contained plans of attack on a meet carried by Indian defence scientists at the iconic Taj Hotel in Mumbai, where the attack was carried out two years later.

The LeT also had plans of blowing up Mumbai's Siddhivinayak Temple, a popular tourist destination and several other important places. Headley said he had visited Indian naval base, railway stations, hotels, etc. for recce. 
 
He also admitted to videographing the second floor of a hotel where an Indian scientists' conference was going to be held and targeted by Lashkar. 

So far, the quiz has yielded Saeed as the mastermind of LeT and Mumbai attack. Saeed and his close mate Lakhavi also imparted military training to Headley.

Headley have also clarified that he was inspired by Saeed's speech to carry on a jihad against India and joined the fringe outfit in 2002.

A US citizen and a convict of the state, Headley who is 55 years old, was 18 when he moved to the US from Pakistan.

His real name is Dawood Gilani and changed his name only after request from his LeT colleague Sajid Mir, who is also his handler.
