Shimla/IBNS: Even when the central government and other states are easing the shutdown, the Himachal Pradesh government on Monday extended the anti-Covid-19 lockdown in the state till Jun 30, media reports said.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, which is headed by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, extended the lockdown in all 12 districts of the state.

As per the last update provided by the Himachal Pradesh government, the state has reported 209 Covid cases including 59 cured and four deaths.

With the announcement, Himachal Pradesh became the first state to extend the lockdown which is due to end on Jun 1 in most parts of the country as of now.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday said his state cannot afford to lift the lockdown after May 31.

Maharashtra is the worst affected state due to Coronavirus with over 50,000 total confirmed cases.

The lockdown, which was first announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Mar 24, was later extended thrice.

The central government on Monday resumed the domestic flight operations while Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri is also keen to resume the international flights before August.
