Dehradun, Mar 17 (IBNS): Shaktiman, the horse whose leg was injured during a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) protest on Monday, needs amputation or it may die, media reports said on Thursday.
"Doctors were of the view that the horse might lose its life by tomorrow morning due to the spread of gangrene, so we decided to amputate its leg urgently," Uttarakhand police chief BS Sidhu was quoted as saying by NDTV.

Earlier, a team of 10 doctors carried out a five-hour surgery on Shaktiman.

Over the past three days, several politicians have visited the suffering horse.
