Huge quantity of ammunition recover in Meghalaya’s East Garo Hills

Guwahati/IBNS: Police recovered huge quantity of ammunition in Meghalaya’s East Garo Hills district.

East Garo Hills district police team from Rongjeng conducted search operations in Nongchram Rongdu area about 9 kilometers from Rongjeng and recovered arms and ammunitions suspected to be hidden by banned outfit Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) on Saturday.

The police team had received information from reliable sources that a huge number of arms and ammunition were kept hidden in Nongchram area.

Acting on the input, the Superintendent of Police of East Garo Hills dispatched a team to conduct search operation in the area.

The police team recovered 75 rounds of 7.62mm AK ammunition, 12 rounds of 7.65mm ammunition, two rounds of .38mm ammunition and 11 rounds of 9mm ammunition from Nongchram Rongdu area.

Search operations are being carried out to recover more arms and ammunition.

A case has been registered for further investigation.
