Hyderabad, May 1 (UNI) A police constable killed a woman colleague and set her body ablaze over an affair.

According to Police, Mandakini was strangulated by constable Prakash near Venkatapuram village in Sangareddy district on Monday night. Later he poured petrol on the body and set on fire.

The woman constable’s father Sadanandam lodged a complaint on Tuesday when she had not returned home after duty.

Prakash who was already married fell in love with Mandakini while they were working at Sangareddy police station few months ago. They had continued their affair even after they were transferred to Hatnur Police Station and Ramachandrapuram Police Stations respectively.

When Mandakini was giving pressure on Prakash to marry her, he planned to eliminate her. On the fateful day, Prakash took her out in a car late on Monday and strangulated her.

A case has been registered and an investigation is underway, police added.
