Hyderabad/UNI: A massive "Tiranga" rally was taken out under the aegis of the United Muslim Action Committee, protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), National Register of Citizens (NRC) and National Population Register (NPR), here on Friday.

More than 40,000 people including women and youth holding the National flag took part in the rally which began soon after the "Juma" (Friday) prayers at Idgah Miralam and wend its way towards Shashtripuram.

Security was beefed up and traffic restrictions were put in place in several areas in view of the rally.

Muslims leaders including All India Majlis e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Chief Asauddin Owaisi, MP, are slated to address the rally after it culminates into a public meeting later in the day.

Shops and other business establishments remained closed in the old city of Hyderabad.
