Kolkata: Scoring a landslide victory, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday said her party's target in the Assembly poll was to win 221 seats.

"I had targeted to win 221 seats as this year is 2021," she told the media.

"We will fulfill all the commitments we have made to the people," she said.

Banerjee said her first priority will be to deal with the current COVID-19 situation in the state.

"My first priority is Covid. It is increasing. We have to resume work to stem Covid spread. We won’t arrange a big swearing in ceremony despite landslide victory. We are indebted to people," she said.

Speaking on the issue of free vaccines, she said: "We will give free vaccines to all and I would requested central govt to give free vaccines to people. If not, I will start ahimsa movement near Gandhi statue."

She said the swearing-in ceremony of her government will be a low key affairs due to COVID-19.

"We are grateful to the people for this landslide victory," she thanked people.

"This is a victory of the people, country and democracy," she said.

She said the victory showed the Bharatiya Janata Party is moving towards a downslide.

As per latest trends, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and her TMC are returning to power for the third consecutive term as the party is leading in 219 seats.

The BJP is leading in 71.
