Implementing National Policy for Women Safety

New Delhi, Aug 4 (IBNS): Krishana Raj, MoS, Ministry of Women and Child Development informed the Rajya Sabha on Thursday that the central government has set up One Stop Centres and Women Helpline (181) so that women can easily seek justice.

She also highlighted upon measures taken by the government as part of the National Policy for Women Safety.

Swadhar Greh and Ujjawala Schemes are being administered by Ministry of Women and Child Development for relief and rehabilitation of women in difficult circumstances, including the victims of rape.

The Union Ministry of Finance, in 2013, set up a dedicated fund called Nirbhaya Fund for implementation of initiatives aimed at enhancing the safety and security for women in the country, and the corpus has transferred Rs. 2000 Crore to the Public Account for the Nirbhaya fund till 2015-16.

The Department of Economic Affairs has issued guidelines for simplified procedure for making optimal utilisation of the Nirbhaya Fund.

Ministry of Women & Child Development in consultation with the Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic Affairs, has also issued guidelines for proposals from central government ministries/departments, states/UTs to be funded under Nirbhaya Fund.
