India admitted as full member of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation

Astana/New Delhi, Jun 9 (IBNS): President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbheyey, declared India and Pakistan as full members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) at the summit in Astana on Friday, according to media reports.

Prior to that, heads of Member States signed the decision for India joining Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.

The Indian flag was seen with the flags of other SCO countries after it became a full member.

Speaking at the summit on Friday, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India has extensive cooperation with SCO nations and wants to deepen the focus on connectivity, according to media reports.
