India fights Coronavirus: Union govt asks state to take appropriate measures to curb Covid-19

Mumbai/UNI: The Union Ministry of Health has directed to take appropriate corrective measures to curb the growing covid incidence in the Maharashtra state.

According to the state situation report sent by the central health teams to the union government , the situation regarding the declaration of restricted areas in Aurangabad, Satara and Sangli districts is not satisfactory.

In Buldana, Satara, Aurangabad and Nanded districts, due to insufficient manpower, vigilance and search for those who came in contact with patients was not enough. Some districts have low testing capacity. Ahmednagar, Aurangabad, Nagpur and Nandurbar districts have the highest number of available beds in hospitals. Oxygen supply is a problem in Bhandara, Palghar, Osmanabad and Pune districts.

There is a problem of closed ventilators in Satara and Latur districts.

Almost all the teams found a lack of cowardly behavior in the state, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said in a letter writen to state health secretary Dr Pradip Vyas. A detailed table in this regard has been given along with the letter and the state and district administrations should take appropriate measures after making sure of it, the letter stated.

The central government has taken up the issue of availability of vaccines in the state.

As per the available stock, necessary action will be taken to increase the supply, the letter further said.

The team also said that there was a shortage of health workers in Aurangabad, Nandurbar, Yavatmal, Satara, Palghar, Jalgaon and Jalna districts.

The Union Ministry of Health had sent 30 central teams to the 30 worst-affected districts in the Maharashtra state since last three to four days back.
