The Indian and US Embassies in Lebanon have issued advisory for its citizens as the security situation in the region remains volatile.

The embassy directed citizens to exercise caution while travelling to the Middle East nation.

"In view of the current situation in Lebanon, all Indian nationals in Lebanon are advised to exercise caution and remain in contact with Embassy of India in Beirut through our Email address: cons.beirut@mea.gov.in or through emergency helpline number +961-76860128," the Indian Embassy said in a statement.

The US Embassy in Lebanon wrote: "We remind U.S. citizens to strongly reconsider travel to Lebanon.  The security environment remains complex and can change quickly."

"The U.S. Embassy reminds U.S. citizens to review the current Travel Advisory for Lebanon.  In particular, we call your attention to the Country Summary which advises that the Lebanese government cannot guarantee the protection of U.S. citizens against sudden outbreaks of violence and armed conflict," the statement said.

Tensions between Israel and Lebanon has been rising in recent times ever since Hamas attacked on October 7.

Following the attack on its soil, Israel began its campaign in Gaza.

The US is moving forces closer to Israel and Lebanon amid concerns of escalating cross-border fire, according to two US officials, including forces able to carry out an evacuation of American citizens, reported CNN.
