Indian Army organizes volleyball tournament in Assam’s Baksa
Guwahati: To reaffirm its commitment towards fostering peace and to provide an mimpetus to the sporting talents in the region of lower Assam, Indian Army organised Invictus Inter Club Volleyball Tournament at Baganpara in Assam's Baksa district.
The aim of this tournament was to facilitate the youth by providing them a platform in the remote areas and help them ascertain themselves and identify the sports talent for further nurture.
The tournament witnessed the participation of 12 Boys teams and 4 Girls team from dist of Nalbari, Kamrup(Rural), Tamulpur and Baksa.
Matches were conducted on league basis. On completion of league matches semifinal and finals were conducted on 26 and 27 February.
The final match of girls was between Purabi Nalbari Volleyball Club and Berghaon Volleyball club and the final match of boys was between Tamulpur Volleyball Club and Dhamdhama Volleyball Club.
The competitive spirit displayed by the players in final match was indeed phenomenal. The zeal and vigour of the local sports talent is praiseworthy.
The finals also witnessed the presence of civil dignitaries. Speaker of BTC Khatiram Boro and Daobhaisa Boro Executive Member for sports, BTC also attended the event.
The Invictus Brigade Commander also encouraged the locals for sports & to do well in future. Winners and Runner up were given trophies, medals, certificates and cash prizes by Army.
The Army officials also applauded the participants for showing gritty determination of highest standards and also encouraged them to practice and excel in all such events in future.
The audience at the tournament hugely appreciated the efforts of the Army for conducting such an event which brings to fore the sense & feeling of bonhomie and trust between the local populace and Army.
