Indian fishermen return to India from Pak jails
New Delhi, May 29 (IBNS) The 151 fishermen released from Pakistan jails returned to their homes in India late on Wednesday night, said reports on Thursday.
A day ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony, Pakistan on Sunday released the Indian fishermen from its prisons to show a goodwill measure to mark the occasion.
On their return to India, the fishermen said it was because of Modi that they were freed.
"I want to thanks our new PM. It was because of him that I was able to return home after over five years," said a fishermen.
"All because of Modi I am finally being able to go home," said another fishermen.
As many as 59 fishermen were released from the Malir jail in Karachi and 92 fishermen were released from the Nara jail in Hyderabad in Sindh province.
They were arrested for allegedly fishing in Pakistan's territorial waters.
