Indian President, PM condole loss of lives at Mecca stampede

New Delhi, Sept 24 (IBNS): Indian President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the loss of lives in the stampede at Mina, near the Muslim holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia, where millions perform the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
In his message to the custodian of the two holy mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the President has said “I am deeply saddened by the tragic incident at Mina today, during which a large number of Haj pilgrims lost their lives and several others suffered injuries."
 
"On behalf of the Government and the people of India and on my own behalf, I express my sincere condolences to the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and to the families of the deceased pilgrims. I also wish speedy recovery to those injured in this most unfortunate incident," Mukherjee said.
 
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also condoled the loss.
 
"Distressing news from Mecca. Pained at loss of lives due to the stampede. Condolences to families of the deceased and prayers with the injured," the Prime Minister said.
