Inter ministerial central team takes stock of Assam flood situation

Guwahati, July 24 (IBNS) : An inter Ministerial Central team, comprising 7 numbers of high level officers of different Ministries to be headed by V. Shashanka Sekhar, Joint Secretary, Union Home Ministry, will visit Assam from July 25 to July 28 to assess the recent flood situation and erosion affected areas of the State.

The Central team comprises of officials from different Ministries, including Union Home Affairs, Water Resources, Finance, Expenditure, Road Transport and Highways, Rural Development, NITI Aayog, Agriculture & Cooperation and will make an on the spot assessment of the situation.

The visiting team will inspect flood and erosion affected areas of Biswanath, Lakhimpur, Majuli, Barpeta, Cachar, Karimganj, and Hailakandi and also meet officials of the respective district administration.

A high-level review meeting is also slated to be held with the State Chief secretary on July 25th and other line departments.
