Inviting Pakistan PM to swearing in is an excellent move: Omar
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) strongman, who is all set to take oath as the Prime Minister of India on May 26, has invited Sharif and heads of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) nations to his swearing-in ceremony.
Omar tweeted: "Excellent move by @narendramodi to invite SAARC leaders, especially Pak PM for his swearing in. Hope this is beginning of sustained talks."
Omar, however, later said: "At the same time I can't help wonder what BJP would have said if a PM designate Rahul Gandhi had done the same thing."
According to reports, Nawaz Sharif is unlikely to attend Narendra Modi's oath-taking ceremony in New Delhi.
President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday appointed Modi as the Prime Minister of India and requested him to advise the names of others to be appointed as Members of the Council of Ministers.
Modi-led the BJP and the NDA to a historic win against the Congress winning a whopping 336 seats in the recently concluded Lok Sabha election.
