IPL scam: Probe panels submits report to Supreme Court

New Delhi, Nov 3 (IBNS): Justice Mukul Mudgal panel, which was tasked to probe the Indian Premier League (IPL) scam involving spot fixing and betting in 2013, on Monday submitted its final report to a special Supreme Court bench.

The Supreme Court bench consisted of Justice T.S. Thakur and Ibrahim Kalifulla.

They would hear the case on Nov 10.

The panel also investigated N. Srinivasan, the former the BCCI president who is now the chairman of International Cricket Council (ICC), who was under scanner because of his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan who has been accused betting.

The finding of the report would affect the cricket administration fortunes of Srinivasan who is also a top industrialist.

Earlier reports said Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team's former team principal Gurunath Meiyappan's voice sample has been confirmed in a tapped conversation in connection with the Indian Premier League (IPL) spot-fixing and betting scandal.

According to media reports, the final report prepared by Justice Mukul Mudgal Committee has confirmed the voice samples of Meiyappan.

The conversation reportedly took place between Meiyappan and Bollywood actor Vindoo Dara Singh during the sixth edition of IPL.

The Indian Premier League Probe Committee, headed by Justice (Retd) Mukul Mudgal, submitted its first report on Feb 10 where it found  Gurunath Meiyappan guilty.

The 170-page report, filed in the Supreme Court, had said Meiyappan had fixed and put bets on IPL matches.

The lid was blown off the IPL scam after Rajasthan Royals players S Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan were arrested along with 11 bookies from Mumbai on May 16, 2013 for their role in spot-fixing.
