Bengaluru, Nov 21 (IBNS): The Income Tax (IT) officials have raided mining baron G Janardhan Reddy's offices in Bellari days after the lavish wedding of his daughter.

According to reports, the Income Tax department has served him with a three-page notice with 15 questions that has to be answered by Friday.

The department has sought details of how Reddy managed to spend so much on the wedding party fitted with LCD screens, jewellery, clothes, entertainment and food for the lavish event.

Last Wednesday, Reddy, who was a former Minister, hosted an extravagant wedding of his daughter where he had invited around 50,000 guests.

The grand event comes at a time when the entire country is facing tough time owing to the currency ban by the Centre.

"Activists allege that 500 crores was spent by Mr Reddy but his relatives claim the total spending is closer to Rs. 30 crore and most of it was paid by cheque to event managers long before demonetization," NDTV reported.
