It’s a routine process, says Rajnath Singh on Rahul Gandhi’s citizenship row

New Delhi, Apr 30 (UNI) Reacting to the Rahul Gandhi’s citizenship row, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday said that it is a routine process of the Home Ministry and not a big development.

“When a Member of Parliament writes to any ministry, action required on their query is taken. It is not a big development, it is normal process,” Singh told media in Lucknow.

On April 29, the Ministry of Home Ministry served a notice to Congress president Rahul Gandhi to explain factual position on his citizenship issue within a fortnight.

The Home Ministry move comes after the complaint filed by BJP MP Subrahmanium Swami alleging that the annual returns of 2005, 2006 and the Dissolution application in 2009 of a British company Backops Limited mentioned that he was a British citizen.
