Jammu and Kashmir: Encounter underway in Kulgam, DSP martyred

Srinagar, Feb 24 (IBNS): An encounter is currently underway between security forces and suspected terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam area on Sunday.

A deputy superintendent of Jammu and Kashmir police, Aman Thakur, was martyred during the encounter.

Kashmir Police Zone tweeted: "We pay rich #tributes to our colleague #Martyr #DySP Aman Kumar for his supreme sacrifice made in the line of #duty today at @Kulgam. We stand by his family at this crucial moment. RIP. @JmuKmrPolice @policekulgam."

The Twitter handle had earlier posted: "Exchange of fire at Turigam #Kulgam. Security forces on job. Details will follow. @JmuKmrPolice."

Recently, 40 CRPF jawans were killed during a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama area on Feb 14.

India leaders and even several other countries condemned the India.

India blamed Pakistan for the incident.
