Jammu and Kashmir: JKP organises sports festival at Sopore, South Kashmir PPL at Anantnag
Srinagar: In order to inculcate and promote sports spirit among the youth and build healthy police public relations, Sopore police organised 2020-sports festival under civic action programme at Khushal Sports Stadium Sopore.
Besides, Anantnag Police organised South Kashmir Police Premier League at Sports Stadium Anantnag.
At Sopore, DIG NKR Baramulla Suleman Choudhary-IPS who was the chief guest on the occasion inaugurated the sports festival-2020. On the occasion, SSP Sopore Javaid Iqbal-JKPS and other senior police officers were present.
Besides, a large gathering including BDC members, sarpanchs, panch, traders federations, fruit growers association and civil society members witnessed the opening ceremony of the sports festival.
While interacting with the players and other audience, chief guest Suleman Choudhary , IPS, said that J&K Police has started sports activities across the J&K UT with the sole aim to provide best platform to the youths, so that they can excel their talent in their respective sports activities.
In this sports festival, 100 cricket teams, 32 football teams and 32 volleyball teams are participating.
During the inaugural ceremony, three matches of cricket, volleyball and football were played. The cricket match was played between sydicate-11 vs Sopore strikers, volleyball match was played between Zaingeer-11 VS Sopore Police and football match was played between Khushal Tulibal Sopore vs Janwara Football Club.
Similarly, Anantnag Police organised South Kashmir Police Premier League at Sports Stadium Anantnag and was inaugurated by SSP Anantnag Sandeep Choudhary-IPS. Additional SP Anantnag Perbeet Singh and other senior officers of police were also present during the inaugural ceremony.
A total number of 16 cricket teams from all four districts of South Kashmir are participating in the tournament.
The inaugural match was played between Kulgam Warriors and Anantnag Gladiators. Community members and youth of these areas have appreciated the efforts of police and expressed hope that police will provide them with a similar platform in future to showcase their talents.
