Jammu and Kashmir: Security forces kill JeM commander Sajjad Afghani during Shopian encounter

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday confirmed the killing of Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) Sajad Afghani during an encounter in Shopian district.

"IGP Kashmir #congratulates Shopian police & SFs for #eliminating JeM commander #terrorist Sajjad Afghani in Shopian #encounter. @JmuKmrPolice,"Kashmir Zone Police tweeted.


J-K DGP Dilbag Singh was quoted as saying by The Tribune that Afghani, who was instrumental in recruiting terrorists, had been killed in the encounter that entered its third day on Monday.

Besides Afghani, the other terrorist killed in the encounter has been identified as Lashkar-affiliated Jahangir Ahmad Wani from Rakh Narapora, the newspaper reported.
