Japan’s Vice Minister for Policy Coordination meets Kiren Rijiju

New Delhi, Nov 4 (IBNS): A Japanese delegation led by Vice Minister for Policy Coordination of Cabinet Office, Shigeki Habuka met the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju here on Friday.

Appreciating Japan’s technical expertise and experience in Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Disaster Management, Kiren Rijiju said India would like to gain from Japan’s leadership in the field.

Shigeki Habuka underlined the need for the Asian countries assembled for the Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (AMCDRR) 2016 in New Delhi to adopt the common agenda set forth in the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (SFDRR) and hoped that the goals practically possible will be achieved within the timeframe, read an official statement.

The Japanese Minister invited India’s participation in the two DRR related Conferences being held in Japan during Dec 19-20, 2016 and Jan 24, 2017.

Rijiju assured that India will be appropriately represented, even at the Ministerial level if required.

Underlining India’s special relationship with Japan, Rijiju said India has given Visa-on-Arrival facility to Japanese nationals.
