Japanese engineer found dead in Kolkata posh hotel

Kolkata, Feb 11 (IBNS): Body of a nearly 65-year-old Japanese engineer was recovered from a five-star hotel in Kolkata's Rajarhat New Town area on Friday night, reports said on Saturday.

According to reports, the engineer, who has been identified as Masanori Hori, checked into the hotel on Feb 8 and found in an unconscious state inside his locked room on the eighth floor of the posh hotel.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where Hori was declared dead.

Police have started investigation into the case and informed the Consulate General of Japan in Kolkata about the incident.

Body of the Japanese techie has been sent for post-mortem, while the CCTV footage of the hotel is being examined and the staffers of the five-star inn are being quizzed.
